Welcome
Call to Worship
And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
Revelation 5:13–14 (NKJV)
Hymn # 19 Thee We Adore, Eternal Lord!
1 Thee we adore, eternal Lord! We praise thy name with one accord. Thy saints, who here thy goodness see, through all the world do worship thee, through all the world do worship thee.
2 To thee aloud all angels cry, the heav'ns and all the pow'rs on high: thee, holy, holy, holy king, Lord God of Hosts, they ever sing, Lord God of Hosts, they ever sing.
3 Apostles join the glorious throng, and prophets swell th'immortal song; thy martyrs' noble army raise eternal anthems to thy praise, eternal anthems to thy praise.
4 From day to day, O Lord, do we exalt and highly honor thee! Thy name we worship and adore, world without end, forevermore, world without end, forevermore.
Call To Confession
And God spoke all these words, saying:
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 You shall not make for yourself a carved image...5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.
7 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
12 Honor your father and your mother.
13 You shall not murder.
14 You shall not commit adultery.
15 You shall not steal.
16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 You shall not desire...anything that is your neighbor’s.
I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.
For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You
In a time when You may be found.
Psalm 32:5–6 (NKJV)
Confession of Sins
Let us, therefore, confess our sin, saying together:
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me... Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities” through Jesus your Son. Amen.
Word of Assurance
For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.
Psalm 103:11–13 (NKJV):
Song of Renewal
Gracious God my heart renew,
Make my spirit right and true;
Cast me not away from thee,
Let thy Spirit dwell in me;
Thy salvation's joy impart.
Steadfast make my willing heart.
#486, stanza 5 (Ps 51:10-11)
Scripture Lessons: Colossians 3:12–17 (NKJV modified)
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, lowliness, humility, patience;
13 bearing with one another, and being gracious to one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ was gracious to you, so you also must do.
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Sermon
Hymn # 164 O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing
1 O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace. 2 My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name. 3 Jesus, the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease; 'tis music in the sinner's ears, 'tis life and health and peace. 4 He breaks the pow'r of reigning sin, he sets the pris'ner free; his blood can make the foulest clean, his blood availed for me. 5 He speaks and, list'ning to his voice, new life the dead receive; the mournful, broken hearts rejoice; the humble poor believe. 6 Hear him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb, your loosen'd tongues employ; ye blind, behold your Savior come; and leap, ye lame, for joy.
Prayer of the Church and the Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
Hymn # 642 Be Thou My Vision
1 Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that thou art - thou my best thought, by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
2 Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; thou my great Father, I thy true son; thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.
3 Be thou my battle shield, sword for my fight; be thou my dignity, thou my delight, thou my soul's shelter, thou my high tow'r; raise thou me heav'n-ward, O Pow'r of my pow'r.
4 Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, thou mine inheritance, now and always: thou and thou only, first in my heart, High King of Heaven, my treasure thou art.
5 High King of heaven, my victory won, may I reach heaven's joys, O bright heav'n's Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O Ruler of all.
Benediction
