Call to Worship
The Lord is high above all nations,His glory above the heavens.5 Who is like the Lord our God,Who dwells on high,6 Who humbles Himself to beholdThe things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
Psalm 113:4-6
Hymn (lyrics provided) Behold Our God
Who can question any of His words?
Who can teach the One who knows all things?
Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds?
Refrain:
Behold our God, seated on His throne; come let us adore Him!
Behold our King! Nothing can compare; come, let us adore Him!
2 Who has held the oceans in His hands?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at His voice;
all creation rises to rejoice! [Refrain]
3 Who has felt the nails upon His hands,
bearing all the guilt of sinful man?
God eternal, humbled to the grave;
Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign! [Refrain]
Call To Confession
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For,
“Whoever would love life and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
1 Peter 3:8–12 citing Psalm 34:12-16 (NIV):
Confession of Sins
Let us pray to the Lord confessing our sin, saying together:
Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.
Be pleased to save me, Lord;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.
Psalm 40:11–13 (NIV)
Word of Comfort
As we are weary and burdened by our sin and our troubles, our Lord Jesus says to us:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)
Song of Renewal
Jesus! I do now receive him,more than all in him I find;he hath granted me forgiveness,I am his, and he is mine.
Hallelujah! what a Savior!Hallelujah, what a Friend!Saving, helping, keeping, loving,he is with me to the end.
Trinity Hymnal # 498, stanza 5

Scripture Lessons:
Philippians 4:10-23
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
14 Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress. 15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. 18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. 22 All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Sermon
Hymn # 113 The Heavens Declare Thy Glory
1 The heav'ns declare thy glory,
the firmament thy pow'r;
day unto day the story
repeats from hour to hour;
night unto night replying,
proclaims in ev'ry land,
O Lord, with voice undying,
the wonders of thy hand.
2 The sun with royal splendor
goes forth to chant thy praise,
and moonbeams soft and tender
their gentler anthem raise;
o'er every tribe and nation
the music strange is poured,
the song of all creation
to thee, creation's Lord.
3 All heav'n on high rejoices
to do its Maker's will,
the stars with solemn voices
resound thy praises still;
so let my whole behavior,
thoughts, words, and actions be,
O Lord, my Strength, my Savior,
one ceaseless song to thee.
Prayer of the Church and the Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
Hymn – Come, Behold the Wondrous Mystery (lyrics provided)
1 Come behold the wondrous myst’ry in the dawning of the King;
He the theme of heaven's praises Robed in frail humanity.
In our longing, in our darkness now the Light of Life has come;
Look to Christ who condescended Took on flesh to ransom us.
2 Come behold the wondrous myst’ry He the perfect Son of Man;
In His living, in His suffering Never trace nor stain of sin.
See the true and better Adam Come to save the hellbound man;
Christ the great and sure fulfillment Of the law; in Him we stand.
The Nicene Creed page 846
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light,
very God of very God,
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;
by whom all things were made;
who for us and for our salvation
came down from heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried;
and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead;
whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified;
who spoke by the prophets;
and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church;
we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;
and we look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The Lord's Supper
Hymn – Come, Behold the Wondrous Mystery (lyrics provided)
3 Come behold the wondrous myst’ry, Christ the Lord upon the tree;
In the stead of ruined sinners Hangs the Lamb in victory.
See the price of our redemption, see the Father's plan unfold;
Bringing many sons to glory, Grace unmeasured, love untold.
4 Come behold the wondrous myst’ry Slain by death the God of life;
but no grave could e'er restrain Him, Praise the Lord, He is alive!
What a foretaste of deliv’rance, How unwavering our hope;
Christ in power resurrected As we will be when He comes.
Benediction
